CIIE Ensures Green Power Through Local Green Certificate Transactions

Updated: November 07, 2024

The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE), held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10, utilized green energy sourced through local green certificate transactions for the first time, which was in tune with this year’s focus on low-carbon and new technology.

For this CIIE, 10,000 green power certificates were purchased from local power generation companies in Shanghai, equivalent to 10 million kWh of green electricity, fully meeting the expo’s green power needs from preparation to conclusion.

The green electricity covered nearly 20 venues at the CIIE, spanning a total supply area of over 420,000 square meters. This year, 4,679 sensors were installed across key power distribution areas to monitor electrical equipment. In addition, an advanced power inspection robot operated on-site.

Wang Zichang, an on-site engineer from the State Grid Qingpu Power Supply Company, a subsidiary of the State Grid Corporation of China in Shanghai, said, “With our inspection robots and sensors, we can monitor the real-time operational status of all electrical equipment across the venues.

“This ensures reliable power for lighting, exhibition booths, microphones, speakers and other essential systems.”
