FAW Sees Remarkable Growth in Overseas Markets

China FAW Group Co., Ltd. (FAW) is an advanced manufacturer of quality passenger cars, trucks and buses. Established in 1953, the company is China’s oldest and largest automotive group, with annual sales exceeding three million units.

Now, FAW has announced record-breaking overseas sales covering the period from January to August this year, with 86,000 vehicles sold, representing a 71 percent year-on-year increase.

In August, 165 Hongqi vehicles were exported to Europe via the China-Europe freight train, further boosting FAW’s international presence. Currently, FAW Hongqi’s overseas business covers 28 countries and regions, including Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, with 128 stores in operation worldwide.

This year, FAW Hongqi officially announced its entry into German and French markets, achieving significant milestones in introducing its core products and shaping the brand image in high-end markets.

In February, FAW became an official partner of the renowned fashion magazine Vogue, following in the footsteps of Rolls-Royce and Audi.

In June, Hongqi delivered its full-sized electric SUV, the E-HS9, to Frankfurt Airport for use as VIP transportation.

In July, Hongqi showcased its EH7, EHS7 and E-HS9 models at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which attracted crowds of visitors and received positive responses.

The Hongqi brand has also actively participated in international events to provide transportation services. During the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Hongqi continued to promote strategic cooperation with the General Administration of Sport of China, providing efficient mobility services with its E-HS9 models for the Chinese Olympic Delegation in Paris.

Moreover, as an official vehicle brand for large-scale international events, Hongqi also offered mobility services for the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit. A fleet of 620 Hongqi vehicles, including the C+ class luxury flagship sedan H9, the all-new luxury MPV HQ9 and the luxury bus GUOYUE provided outstanding services to the summit.

In March, Bestune, the wholly-owned passenger car brand of FAW, held a grand launch ceremony in Mexico City, officially entering the Mexican market.

This year, FAW Bestune has established nine overseas agencies and 13 franchised stores, and upgraded 28 other stores. Thanks to these efforts, Bestune has made breakthroughs in NEV sales in the Middle East, Latin America, Eastern Europe and other overseas markets. 

For the first time, FAW Bestune has achieved large-scale exports of its Bestune NAT and Bestune Xiaoma models.

FAW Jiefang, the commercial vehicle segment of the group, has exported its commercial vehicles to more than 80 countries and regions, including Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, Africa and Eastern Europe. It now has over 100 key dealers and 200 service providers in more than 40 countries and regions.

In July, Jiefang signed a cooperative Memorandum of Understanding with an Indonesian famous logistic corporation to export 1,200 heavy-duty trucks.

Since the two parties teamed up in 2022, Jiefang has actively responded to the demands of the client and provided tailored and high-quality services in terms of product development, financing and after-sales support. To date, Jiefang has delivered 600 heavy-duty trucks to the logistics group.  

Moreover, FAW Jiefang has established a wholly owned subsidiary to facilitate the international sales of commercial vehicles, with the aim of integrating overseas business and enhancing profitability.

Guided by the Belt and Road Initiative, FAW is striving to become a world-class enterprise by expanding its overseas footprint. To date, FAW’s overseas business has covered 87 countries and regions, including Europe, Africa, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Latin America, with more than 160 first-level dealers around the world. A total of 21 CKD production bases have been established in South Africa, Tanzania, Mexico and other countries and regions.
