Gou Ping, Vice Chairman of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), attended and addressed the opening ceremony of the 9th Belt and Road Summit in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Sept 11th.
In his remarks, Gou highlighted that over the years, central state-owned enterprises (SOEs) have been proactively participating in the implementation of the Belt and Road cooperation, achieving high-quality development while delivering a number of landmark projects as well as "small yet smart" projects. These efforts have significantly contributed to the modernization of countries along the Belt and Road.
Looking ahead, he noted that SASAC and central SOEs are ready to establish closer cooperative relationship with Hong Kong, focusing on connectivity, promoting mutually beneficial collaboration across the entire chain of construction, operation and services of "shipping, ports and logistics"; focusing on scientific and technological innovation, strengthening exchanges and cooperation in the fields of digital economy, artificial intelligence, bio-pharmaceuticals and modern energy; focusing on green development, promoting practical cooperation over green infrastructure, green energy, green transportation and green manufacturing; focusing on projects that improve the people's well-being and livelihoods, ensuring the people's sense of fulfillment and happiness during the process of modernization, while deepening mutual understanding and affinity among the peoples.
Prior to the summit, Gou, together with heads of 38 central SOEs, held talks with John Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of HKSAR, to exchange views on deepening cooperation between central SOEs and Hong Kong.
