Construction of the first phase of the Africa Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the first center of its kind in Africa, was completed on Jan 11.
The center is the first all-Africa CDC with modern offices, laboratory conditions and completed facilities in the region. It is expected to speed up response to disease prevention, supervision and pandemic outbreaks, and strengthen the public health prevention and control system and capacity.
China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC), was responsible for the project.
