The 2×350,000-kilowatt Nuuk Terminal coal-fired power plant at the Westport Special Zone, which has the largest installed capacity in Cambodia, entered commercial operation on March 31, 2023.
The project was built to Chinese standards with Chinese technologies by China-made equipment. It also has the most advanced indices and the highest environmental protection level for plants of its kind in the country.
China Huadian Corporation Ltd. (CHD) is responsible for the project under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. Thanks to years of endeavor in China-Cambodia energy cooperation, the company has become the largest power supplier in Cambodia.
