The 8th Africa Tech Challenge (ATC), sponsored by AVIC International Holding Corporation (AVIC INTL), a subsidiary of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China, Ltd. (AVIC), opened at the Technical University of Kenya in Nairobi, capital of Kenya, on July 24, 2023.
A total of 83 teams and 332 students from the nine countries of Kenya, Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Gabon, Ghana, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, participated in the competition.
Since its launch in 2014, more than 1,300 competitors had been trained and participated in the ATC and nine local vocational schools had been receiving funds from AVIC. So far, 24 students have studied in China thanks to support from AVIC and nearly 100 trainees have been recruited by local Chinese-enterprises.
