Cox's Bazar Wind Farm, the first large-scale wind farm in Bangladesh, was put into operation on Oct 12, 2023. It was built by State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC).
Built to Chinese standards with Chinese technology and by China-made equipment, the project can generate more than 145 million kilowatt-hours of power annually, meeting demands of 100,000 households.
It is an equivalent to the power produced by burning 44,600 metric tons of standard coal, eliminating emissions of 109,200 tons of carbon dioxide.
It's worth noting that the project has cultivated wind power talents for Bangladesh, which will support sustainable development of the country's wind power industry, winning the project a reputation of "a model of China-Bangladesh energy cooperation".
