China Railway Group Limited (CREC) delivered 18 wells in Lualaba Province of Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on Oct 13, 2023, meeting domestic water demands of about 8,000 households.
Villagers in affected areas used to fetch water from the river about 3 kilometers away before the wells were built. Sometimes villagers got sick after drinking water from the river on rainy days.
In January, a joint venture of CREC and other Chinese enterprises and local enterprises build wells in four administrative villages to help local people obtain clean drinking water.
