Zhang Yuzhuo, Chairman of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), met with Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba in Beijing on Oct 26.
The two sides exchanged views on encouraging and supporting Chinese central state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to deepen economic and trade exchanges with Cuban enterprises and increase investment cooperation.

Zhang welcomed the visit of Cabrisas and his delegation. He said that the important consensus reached by the two heads of state on China-Cuba relations in the new era has yielded progress of the bilateral relationship and provided fundamental guidance for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
In recent years, Chinese central SOEs have had extensive cooperation with Cuban enterprises and achieved remarkable results. SASAC is ready to work with relevant Cuban departments to further implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, establish and improve communication mechanism. It will encourage and support Chinese central SOEs to increase practical cooperation with their Cuban counterparts in areas such as infrastructure construction, petrochemicals, mineral resources, and biopharmaceuticals in alignment with market-oriented and law-based principles, in a bid to further promote the joint construction of the Belt and Road between China and Cuba in a thorough and pragmatic way.
Cabrisas highly praised China's economic and social development achievements and spoke positively of the investment and cooperation outcomes of Chinese central SOEs in Cuba. He said that Cuba actively responds to the Belt and Road Initiative and has taken pragmatic and effective measures to improve its business environment. He expressed his hope to work together with SASAC to further expand investment cooperation between enterprises from both countries in energy resources, biopharmaceuticals and information and communications in Cuban, Chinese and third-party markets. This aims to achieve high-quality development and continuously transform the important consensus reached by the two heads of state into more mutually beneficial and win-win cooperative outcomes, he said.
Cuban Ambassador to China Carlos Miguel Pereira, along with officials from relevant Cuban departments and SASAC, attended the meeting.
