Line 11 of the Suzhou metro came into operation on June 24, linking the city of Suzhou, in east China's Jiangsu Province, with Shanghai. The newly launched Line 11 of the Suzhou metro is also part of Line 11 of the Shanghai metro, allowing passengers to seamlessly transfers between the two cities' metros. The line was built by subsidiaries of China Railway Group Limited (CREC). It is the first fully automatic urban rail transit line in China, the first cross-county rail transit line in China, the first urban rail transit line in Suzhou, and the first rail transit line that connects with the Shanghai rail transit network. It is also the longest single line with the fastest speed in Suzhou, and the city's longest rail transit line across the Yangcheng Lake.

With a total length of 41.25 kilometers, Line 11 has 28 stations. It runs between Weiting Station in Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), where it transfers to Suzhou Rail Transit Line 3, and Huaqiao Station in the Suzhou-administered county-level city of Kunshan, where it transfers to Shanghai Metro Line 11. The line uses the 6-carriage B-Series trains with a design speed of 100 km/h, and it takes about 57 minutes to traverse the whole line.

As a demonstration project of infrastructure interconnection in the Yangtze River Delta, the line realizes seamless cross-provincial transfers between Suzhou Rail Transit Line 11 and the Shanghai Rail Transit Network. It will promote the urban integration of Shanghai and Suzhou, and enhance the radiation of central urban areas in Suzhou and Kunshan. In addition, it will also boost the optimization of urban spatial layout, lead new-type urbanization, promote the integrated layout of transportation, industry and space, and speed up the coordinated development of the Yangtze River Delta's urban agglomeration.
