The Chongqing-Changsha High-speed Railway is a key part of Xiamen-Chongqing railway, a main line of the country's "eight horizontal and eight vertical" high-speed railway network.
Once operational, the railway will be the first of its kind linking cities in the Wuling Mountain area in southeastern Chongqing.
It is also expected to make travel easier within the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and between the city cluster of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and the Taiwan Strait west coast urban agglomeration.
