Located on the southern foothill of the Tell Atlas Mountains at the edge of the Sahara Desert, Saida has been regarded "the Gate of the Desert". It is also the first foreign-aid medical station for China.

As early as April 1963, China sent its first medical team to Saida in response to appeals from the Ministry of Health, Population and Hospital Reform of Algeria.

For the past 60 years, China has sent 3,522 medical workers in 27 batches and accepted and treated 27.37 million Algerian patients, helped deliver 2.07 million new-born babies and carried out about 1.75 million surgeries.

Teng Ciying, an obstetrician and gynecologist of the Chinese Medical Team for Algeria, said that the Chinese medical team has completed 90 percent of the caesarean births in Saida in the past two years. The dedication of the Chinese medical team has made the Chinese medical workers "stars" for residents.

As for CRCC, the company has developed various projects in Algeria for more than 17 years. It has contributed to the construction of highways and residential housing. It has also fulfilled social responsibilities.

The company has provided 18,000 jobs for local people, carried out cultural exchange activities in Algerian universities and colleges, conducted public open day events and voluntary medical consultation activities, which built a good image of the Chinese enterprises.
