On Jan 17, 2023 local time, Weng Jieming, Member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Committee of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) and Vice Chairman of SASAC, attended and participated the discussion at the forum themed "China's Next Chapter" at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2023 in Davos, Switzerland.
Weng said that the 20th National Congress of the CPC drew a grand blueprint for building a modern socialist country in all respects. Central State-owned enterprises (SOEs) will continue to contribute to guaranteeing basic supplies, promoting economic growth, fostering scientific and technological innovation, and stabilizing industrial and supply chains. They will improve their core competitiveness and push forward the healthy and sustained development of the Chinese economy and the progress of Chinese path to modernization by prioritizing quality and efficient development, deepening reform and unleashing vitality, increasing investment in scientific research and green transformation, and concentrating more on opening-up and cooperation.
He stressed that central SOEs are independent market entities that participate in fair market competition, and they are willing to strengthen communication and cooperation with various kinds of enterprises, including private and foreign enterprises, to draw on each other's strengths, share the dividends of China's opening-up and development, and jointly inject new impetus into global economic recovery.
During his time at the annual meeting, Weng also met with Professor Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum, and senior executives of several multinational enterprises. They exchanged ideas on topics like strengthening exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and foreign enterprises.
