For the Common Good: Building Wells and Roads, Chinese Enterprise Relieves Urgent Needs of Ghanaian Villagers

Updated: October 14, 2022

Lying to the north near the blue and clear Gulf of Guinea on the African continent so full of natural miracles, the Kumasi project - one of the largest civil engineering projects since the founding of the country, was built by the Ghana branch of China Geo-Engineering Corporation, a subsidiary of China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (CECEP).

As there is no river near Ntensere village, villagers had to trudge far to get water for drinking and domestic use. But the poor water quality often caused diseases. The health conditions of the villagers also needed to be improved as there were many households with no toilet. A public toilet was urgently needed. Moreover, there were only dirt roads in the village and they were in bad repair. On rainy days, they were too muddy for travel by villagers and students.

Considering the village’s demands, the project department of CECEP decided to help build two wells, one for domestic use and the another for the flushing of public toilet. Construction of a public toilet and a 2.5-kilometer road was also planned. The projects were completed on November 2021, which greatly improved local living conditions and earned CECEP sincere appreciation from the village head and local senators.
