The Machang photovoltaic (PV) power project in Malaysia has been put into operation, becoming a new force to drive economic and social development in the country.
Generally developed by Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA), the project is located in Negeri Terengganu on the East Coast of the Malaysia Peninsula and covers an area of 600 hectares. With an installed capacity of 116 megawatts, it is currently the largest flat single axis tracking system PV project in the country.

Once operational, the project is expected to generate 220 million kilowatt-hours of clean power annually, meeting the power demands of 200,000 households. The output equals that produced by burning 80,000 metric tons of standard coal and represents a reduction of 200,000 tons of carbon dioxide.
During construction, more than 500 jobs at the project were provided to local people and a group of outstanding power talents were cultivated, contributing to the green and clean energy development of the country.
