China National Building Material Group Co., Ltd. (CNBM) succeeded in applying glass furnace carbon capture and purification technology to a glass production line on Sept 19 in Hefei, East China's Anhui Province, which was a first in the world.
The digital, smart and green production line has a designed annual liquid carbon dioxide output of 50,000 metric tons and is able to produce 99.99 percent pure carbon dioxide with the smoke released from the glass furnace based on innovative technologies.

Operation of the production line is expected to build CNBM's integrated green industrial chain and contribute to realizing China's "dual carbon" goals of peaking carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.
It will also set a model for carbon reduction, sequestration and management in the global glass industry.
