Updated: October 11, 2022

The zero energy-consuming and net zero-carbon demonstration project of the Qishui Bay tourism resort passed inspection on Sept 20, becoming the first of its kind to operate in South China's Hainan Province.

Developed by China Green Development Investment Group, the project, located in Longlou County of Wenchang, covers an area of 22,400 square meters and consists of an international convention center and office buildings.

CGDG's subsidiary in Wenchang joined hands with the China Academy of Building Research and carried out an energy-conserving and low-carbon renovation, which systematically integrated passive and active energy-conserving technology, renewable energy equipment and a smart operation and maintenance management system.

After renovation, the project is expected to generate about 910,000 kilowatt-hours of clean power annually, enough for its own power consumption and for other regions. The output equals that generated by burning 112 metric tons of standard coal and a reduction of 530 tons of carbon dioxide.

Experts who participated in final inspection of the project said that it is the first zero energy-consuming and net zero-carbon demonstration building in Hainan and will set a model for construction of a national ecological civilized pilot and promotion of net zero-carbon demonstration zone in the region.

What's more, the project is also expected to support setting of a national net zero-carbon building technology standard.
