Clean and highly-efficient nuclear energy is currently the most promising choice in realizing China's goal of peaking carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and reaching carbon neutrality by 2060, according to a member of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
Li Ziying, a CPPCC member and the former chairman of the Beijing Research Institute of Uranium Geology, a subsidiary of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), said that the high-quality development of nuclear power is key to promoting national energy security and implementation of a related innovation-driven development strategy will be a part of CNNC's plans to support the country's high-quality development.
