China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC) held an open house event at the Moscow metro project in Russia on July 10, showcasing the progress of the project and the company's contribution to local development.
It is the first metro project built by a Chinese enterprise in Europe, in which the Chinese side has made many technological breakthroughs and set new records in the engineering sector.
Mayakovsky Station was a highlight at the event. It was also the world's first metro station to be built using deep excavation method for column-typed and three-arch structure. The station is an underground art palace full of the charms and characteristics of Moscow.
Michurinsky Prospekt Station, in the southwest section of the third transfer loop line, was also highlighted during the livestream.
It has been decorated in traditional Chinese patterns like plum blossoms and clouds, many of which are painted red, gaining the reputation as a "new landmark of China-Russia friendship" by the local media.
As for the southwestern section, it is the very first piece of metro construction in Russia to have foreign participation.
The 6.2-kilometer section includes three underground stations, four shield intervals and nine tunnels. So far, the main body of the stations and the intervals have been completed after nearly four years of effort.
Gao Yutian, the project manager, introduced that the CRCC-developed 6.28-meter diameter tunnel boring machine (TBM) was used in the tunnel excavation of the section, and broke a record by digging 35 meters a day, the longest in Russia.
Engineering of the tunnel finished three months ahead of schedule, having safely dug under the hundred-year-old railways and metro stations that have operated for 56 years.
The large-diameter shield program, in the eastern section of the third transfer loop line, is the first of its kind to be built by a Chinese enterprise in Europe.
The 11-meter large-diameter TBM, developed by the CRCC and adopted in the excavation, has a higher efficiency and better performance than its kin. It was specially developed in order to take full consideration of the geological conditions and local climate.
The tunnel is scheduled to commence operation this month and is expected to relieve traffic pressure in the area and promote urban development.
Sticking to the principles of "extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits", the CRCC made full use of its full industrial chain and has contributed towards the construction of the Belt and Road.
It has also been actively boosting international high-quality developments, promoting high-quality international cooperation, improving the image of its enterprise and expanding its impact.
