China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd. signed an EPC contract for construction of a 154 MW wind power project in Durango, Mexico, on Nov 17.
The region is home to rich wind resources.
It is the company's first wind power project in North and Central America.
The project includes construction of the wind power plant and supporting transmission and transformation facilities.
It is estimated that the project will be capable of producing about 400 million kWh of power annually and will eliminate 300,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, which will greatly improve the local environment and energy supply structure.
It will also help Mexico reach its goal of having 25 percent of its energy derived from new energy sources by 2025.
