The United Nations Global Compact convened a high-level video conference with the theme of "Building Sustainable and Resilient Healthcare Infrastructures to accelerate UN SDGs (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals)" on Sept 21, 2020 to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations as well as its own 20th Anniversary. Ren Hongbin, Vice Chairman of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), attended the conference and delivered a keynote speech on the work and international cooperation of Chinese central state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in the fight against the COVID-19 Pandemic.
In his speech, Ren pointed out that as the region that was affected early by the Pandemic, China and the Chinese people have made great sacrifices to contain the virus, and played an indispensable and unparalleled role in safeguarding the lives and health of people around the world. As part of the enormous efforts, Chinese companies have worked collaboratively with the international communities and made great contributions to regional and global public health and accelerated the global economic recovery.
Ren stressed that Chinese companies stand for the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind and contributing to a Global Community of Health for All to accelerate UN SDGs. He said that global crisis needs a global response. Only when we join forces in solidarity and cooperation can human society win the battle against the Pandemic and recover better, stronger and together.
