On August 16, 2016, the Long March-2D carrier rocket, developed by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), has launched at Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, sending the world's first quantum experiment satellite Micius (Mozi) to the preset orbit. The quantum experiment satellite is one of the first experiment satellites carried out as China's special space science program.
In August 2017, Chinese scientists used Micius to achieve successful satellite-to-ground quantum key distribution and ground-to-satellite quantum teleportation for the first time in the world. Micius met all of its three scientific objectives with full success - 1,000km-class quantum entanglement, satellite-to-ground quantum key distribution and quantum teleportation.
